The short answer: there is nothing to download
The Last Stand: Dead Zone on FB Games runs in the browser of any computer. There is no installer for Windows or Mac, no launcher and no program to keep up to date. You open an address, log in and play. The game is saved on the server, so there are no save files to copy or back up either.
How to play in 3 steps
One. Open deadzone.fbgamesweb.com, or use the card on the FB Games home page, and create an account with a username and a password. It is free and no email is needed.
Two. Follow the tutorial. It has 34 steps that teach you to build a Workbench and food and water storage, welcome your first survivor, give them a role and run a first scavenging mission.
Three. Scavenge and grow. Gather resources on the map, recruit more survivors, upgrade your compound and level up. The game is in English only, and it is a beta, so progress can be reset if serious bugs have to be fixed.
Why people search for a download
The original game was a Flash game that depended on an online server. People who remember it often look for an installer, a saved copy or an offline version, and others type “apk” expecting a phone app. None of those exist for this edition, because the original servers closed and Flash no longer runs in browsers.
What does exist is a rebuilt game that opens in the page. Its files are fetched by your browser automatically the first time you visit, the way any web page loads its images and scripts. That is not an installation and you do not have to do anything about it.
How to spot a fake download
Treat a file as fake if it is an .exe, .msi, .dmg or .apk, an installer or a “launcher” that claims to be Dead Zone. The same goes for a page that tells you to install or update a “Flash Player”, asks you to turn off your antivirus, asks for a password from any other service, or makes you complete surveys or download “offers” before you can play.
Be careful with videos and file-sharing pages that promise a “full version”, a “cracked client” or a “mod pack”. This edition has one official way in, the game's own address, which also hosts the terms, the privacy page and the Support page. If you are not sure, type the address yourself instead of following a link.
Free fuel tools and hacks are fake
Fuel is the premium currency of the game, and some pages promise unlimited fuel through a download, a code or a website where you type your username. They are fake or harmful, and the game's terms forbid unfair play. Accounts that break the rules can be muted, suspended or deleted.
The legitimate sources of fuel are limited: the 100 you start with, fuel found as loot on missions, a production building that unlocks at player level 10, and voluntary donations, which the team delivers by hand after you open a ticket. Nothing else gives you fuel, and fuel cannot be bought inside the game.
Other games with the same name may need a download
Some games with similar names, such as titles called The Last Stand, The Last Stand: Union City or simply Dead Zone, are distributed as files or phone apps. They come from other studios, have their own accounts and rules, and have nothing to do with this edition. We do not judge them. We only point out that if you downloaded one, you are not playing the game described here.
What you need to play
A computer with an up-to-date browser and an internet connection. The first visit loads the game's files and takes longer than later ones. Only one session per account can be open at a time. It opens in a phone's browser as well, with touch controls, but the interface is dense and a computer is the recommended way to play; our page about Dead Zone on mobile has the details.
