A compound and a scavenging mission from The Last Stand: Dead Zone, a zombie survival game in the browser

What The Last Stand: Dead Zone is

The Last Stand: Dead Zone is a survival game that mixes base management with real-time combat. You lead a group of survivors holed up in a compound in Union City, a city overrun by the infected.

This edition is free and needs no Flash: it runs directly in the browser.

Build and maintain your compound

You put up food and water storage, beds, a workbench and generators, and keep upgrading every building. Each survivor eats and drinks every day, so you have to watch the supplies, the comfort and the morale of the group.

Fuel speeds up construction when you don't want to wait, and the tutorial walks you through organizing the compound step by step.

Scavenging missions across Union City

From the map you pick a place in the city, such as a store, a hardware shop or a park, equip your team and go in, in real time. You search shelves for items, avoid or fight the infected horde and get back to the compound with your loot before time runs out.

Survivors can be wounded, so it pays to choose carefully who goes out and with which weapons.

Survivors with a trade

Every survivor who arrives at the compound can be given a role: Fighter, Medic, Scavenger, Engineer or Recon. The role decides what they are good at and how they help the group, and they level up as they go on missions.

No Flash, its own server and in beta

The Last Stand: Dead Zone runs on an FB Games server of its own, with an account separate from the other games. The account is required and keeps your compound, your survivors and your progress. The game interface is in English; the home page and the guide on the site are in Spanish and English.

It is in beta and there is still work to do: there are no alliances or player-versus-player fights yet, and errors may appear.
