Social Empires
Build your village, train troops and defend it from the trolls. You play in your browser, and your village is saved to your account.
You can play Social Empires in English and in five other languages: Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German and Russian. The game opens in your browser's language, you can switch it with the language selector on the start page, and it all runs on a single account. This page explains how that works and adds a glossary of game terms in six languages.

Open the game, create a free account and pick your language with the selector on the start page. Your village and your progress are the same in every language, on a computer or on mobile.

If you were looking for Social Empires in English, you are covered. This edition of the game comes in English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German and Russian, and the translation reaches the names of buildings, troops, quests and levels, so you can play from the first villager to the last level without leaving your language.
Those six are the languages of the game itself. The FB Games website shows pages in more languages, including this one, but the game does not have a Chinese, Japanese or Italian interface. The Portuguese version is the Brazilian one, and anyone who prefers it can choose it, wherever they live.
A reminder of where the game comes from: Social Empires is a strategy game by Social Point that began on Facebook, and this is an independent edition that runs in the browser, free, with no Flash and nothing to install. For an overview of the game itself, see the Social Empires guide on this site.
By default the game opens in the language of your browser. If your browser is set to English, you will see Social Empires in English without touching anything, and the same goes for Spanish, Portuguese, French, German or Russian, as long as it is one of the six available.
To change it by hand, use the language selector on the start page. The easiest moment is before you begin playing, right after opening the page, so you go in with the texts in the language you want. You can switch again later whenever you like.
One detail worth knowing: a few loose labels, mostly those drawn into the artwork of a button, may stay in English even when you play in another language. That is normal and does not affect your game, and the glossary below helps you recognize them.
You have a single FB Games account, not one per language. You sign up once, with no need for Facebook, and your progress is saved on the server. If you play in English today and try German tomorrow, you log in with the same account and your village is exactly where you left it.
The language only changes what you see on screen. Resources, prices, rewards and build times are identical in every language, and cash, the daily bonus and levels work the same way. Playing in one language gives you no advantage or disadvantage over another.
The same goes for devices: you can start on a computer and carry on from your phone with the same account, because the village lives on the server and not in the browser.
Players of every language share one server, so you will meet allies and neighbors from other countries. Help, which speeds up constructions and productions, is sent and accepted with a button, with no need to type a word, and it works the same between a player in English and another in Russian or Spanish.
To talk to others you have the global chat and the Round Table. Messages are written by the players themselves in whatever language they like, so expect a mix of English, Spanish and more. If you want to be understood, keep sentences short and lean on the glossary names, especially the English ones, which tend to be understood everywhere.
If you need help with the game or want to make a voluntary donation, support runs through tickets: use the support button inside the game and open one, describing in detail what you were doing and what happened. It works the same in every language.
This glossary gives the English name first and then the in-game names in Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German and Russian, in that order. It is handy if you play in English but chat with players who use another language, or if you follow a guide written in another language. Resources and currency: Gold: oro, ouro, or, Gold, золото. A fun way to practice a language is to play in it. Social Empires uses short, repetitive phrases, such as building names, notices and quests, so a few days in Spanish, French or German can build vocabulary almost without effort, and you can always switch back to English without losing anything.
Language also helps you get along with other players. If your allies play in Portuguese or Russian, seeing the same names they do makes it easier to explain where to build, what to upgrade or which help is missing, especially in the global chat.
And if a translation looks improvable or you spot a text that was left untranslated, open a ticket from the support button and say so: the project keeps being improved.
Open empires.fbgamesweb.com in the browser of your computer or phone, pick your language with the selector on the start page and create your free account, with no Facebook needed. You then begin with a town hall and a few villagers and grow your village from there.
When you want a detailed walkthrough, the official how-to-play guide is at empires.fbgamesweb.com/how-to-play. And if you feel like practicing with another language, just change it in the selector and remember that your account, your village and your progress stay the same.
