Social Empires
Build your village, train troops and defend it from the trolls. You play in your browser, and your village is saved to your account.
To play Social Empires you only need a browser and an account of your own: you log in, the game hands you a town hall and a few villagers, and from there you gather resources, build houses and raise an army. This tutorial walks you through your first minutes and your first week, in order, with the tips that help most when you are starting out.

Here is the game: open it in your browser, create your free account and put this guide into practice from the very first minute.

Build your village, train troops and defend it from the trolls. You play in your browser, and your village is saved to your account.
Very little: an up-to-date browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari) and an internet connection. Social Empires is a free browser game with no Flash and nothing to install, on a computer as well as on a phone or tablet.
You do not need Facebook either. Go to empires.fbgamesweb.com, create an account of your own and pick the language you like: the game comes in Spanish, English, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German and Russian. Your progress is saved on the server, so when you come back with the same account your village is just as you left it, on any device.
Keep your login details somewhere safe. And remember that this is an independent edition: progress from the original Facebook game is not imported, so everyone starts from scratch.
When you log in you will see your village with a town hall and a handful of villagers. The villagers are your workforce: they gather food, wood, stone and gold, and nothing moves without them. Take a moment to look around, open the menus and see what you can build.
The first job is always the same: put every villager to work. An idle villager is lost production, and early on every resource counts. When one finishes a task, give them another right away. Because crops and construction take time to finish, it helps to get them started before you leave and come back to collect the result.
You do not have to understand everything at once. In the first few minutes three things are enough: villagers working, something under construction and an eye on the resources you will need for your next step.
The game has four basic resources, and almost everything you build is paid for with a mix of them. Crops and the mill, sawmills and mines help produce them, and your villagers gather the rest. The point is not to hoard one of them but to never run completely dry on any.
A good habit is to look at what you plan to build next and ask which resource you are short of for it. Short on wood? Boost wood. Short on stone? Go after stone. That way your production follows what you really need right now, instead of piling up something you will not spend.
Before paying for anything, check the full cost. Spending gold on something that could have waited and then lacking it for a more important build is one of the most common early stumbles.
Houses give you population, the room your village needs to keep growing. If you run out of it you cannot move forward even with plenty of resources in the bank, which is one of the silliest ways to lose time.
A practical rule is to build houses a little before you need them, not once you are already at the limit. When you see the population getting close to the cap, slot a house into your building queue alongside everything else.
As you level up, more buildings unlock and you earn a new title, from Slave all the way to Conqueror. Each level also gives you 1 cash, and it is a good moment to look over what has just opened up and what is worth building next.
Missions are the game's natural guide: they set concrete goals and point you in the right direction when you are not sure what to do next. Treat them as a to-do list, especially in the first few days. Completing them is a comfortable way to progress without getting lost among all those buildings.
A sensible route for the first week looks like this. In the first days, keep villagers busy, get the basic resources flowing and build houses on time. Midweek, once the economy has settled, start adding military buildings and put up towers and walls. Toward the end, make the most of help from neighbors and allies and explore whatever your new levels have unlocked.
Claim the daily bonus every day you log in: it is the easiest way to collect cash without spending anything.
There is no need to train troops on day one. Get the economy running first, because an army costs resources and needs population. Once you have villagers at work, several resources flowing and enough houses, it is a good time to open barracks.
Each military building trains its own units: barracks make infantry, archery ranges make archers, stables make cavalry and workshops make siege machines. A mixed army tends to work better than betting everything on one type of unit, and it grows as you level up.
Trolls set up camps and attack your village periodically, so defense matters early: put up towers and walls before the next attack, not after it. Later on you will be able to attack other players (PvP) and see where you stand on the ranking, but that can wait until your village is solid.
Social Empires is built to be played in company. You can send and accept help from neighbors and allies, and each bit of help speeds up a construction or a production. When several things are waiting at the same time, those time savings add up and you can feel it.
Ask for help whenever you start a long build or production, and accept the help that reaches you instead of letting it pass. Returning the favor is the best way to make sure other players keep helping you too.
To meet people, visit the Round Table and the global chat. Ask about whatever you do not understand, look for active allies and take advice from players who have already made it past the early levels. And be respectful: the chat belongs to everyone.
The mistakes that come up most at the start are few: idle villagers, running out of population because houses came too late, neglecting towers and walls until the trolls attack, pouring everything into a single resource and forgetting the daily bonus. With this guide you already know how to avoid them.
Cash is the premium currency. You earn 1 for every level you gain and more from the daily bonus, and if you wish you can donate voluntarily by opening a ticket from the support button inside the game. The whole game can be played without spending anything, so there is no rush to use it.
When you do decide to spend it, think about speeding up something you really care about, not about whims of the moment. If you are unsure, wait. And be wary of any site promising free cash: there is no such thing, and they are usually scams. The only legitimate tricks are the ones in this guide: consistency, order and help from other players.
Three steps and you're in.
From this home page. Each game opens at its own address, with its own start screen.
A quick sign-up inside the game. Your progress is saved on the server, not in your browser.
You play in your browser, with no Flash and no downloads, on a computer and, depending on the game, on your phone too.
You log in with your account, put your villagers to work gathering food, wood, stone and gold, and use those resources to build houses, production buildings and military buildings. Step by step you level up, defend your village from trolls and trade help with neighbors and allies.
Open empires.fbgamesweb.com, create an account of your own and follow the missions the game gives you. Keep your villagers busy, build houses on time and hold off on the army until your economy is running.
Put them to work right away. An idle villager is lost production, so whenever they finish a task, give them another. You can split them between food, wood, stone and gold depending on what you need to build next.
Look at what you are about to build and boost the resource you are short of for it. The aim is not to have lots of just one, but to make sure none of them holds you back. Always check the full cost before you spend.
A little before your population reaches its limit. Houses provide the population your village needs to grow, and running out slows you down even if you have resources. When you notice you are nearing the cap, add a house to your builds.
Once your economy is working: villagers at work, resources flowing and enough houses. Then open barracks and add archery ranges, stables and workshops, and put up towers and walls before the trolls attack again.
Every bit of help you receive speeds up a construction or a production, and every bit you send does the same for another player. With several things going on at once, the time saved adds up. Returning help is the best way to get help yourself.
The only legitimate tricks are common sense: villagers always busy, houses on time, defenses ready, the daily bonus and mutual help. Cash generators and hacks do not exist: your balance lives on the server, and sites that promise them tend to steal data or install harmful programs.
There is no need. You earn 1 cash per level and more from the daily bonus, and the whole game can be played without spending. If you want to use it later, do it to speed up something important, not on impulse.
You need neither. It is free to play in the browser on your computer or phone, with no Flash and no installs, using an account of your own. The official step-by-step guide is at empires.fbgamesweb.com/how-to-play.
